Steven has built a distinguished career in private equity, particularly focusing on emerging markets. With extensive experience spanning over 25 years in India and Sri Lanka, he has played a pivotal role in numerous innovative private equity transactions. His notable achievements include leading the privatization and expansion of a container terminal in the Port of Colombo, the buyout of one of India's largest tractor manufacturers, and the acquisition of Sri Lanka's leading industrial gases business.

Key Responsibilities

Steven's expertise was honed through his tenure at Actis, a prominent global emerging markets fund, where he became a partner from its inception in the early 2000s, and CDC, the UK government's development finance arm. After completing his Master's degree at the University of Melbourne, he returned to Sri Lanka in 2013 to join Hemas Holdings PLC as Deputy CEO and Director. He was subsequently appointed Group CEO, a position he held from 2014 until 2020. Currently, Steven serves as the Non-Executive Chairman of Ironwood Capital Partners, Sri Lanka's leading private equity fund.
